I met Meschiya in 2008 when she came to Portland with part of the Loose Marbles. Our scene was blown away by her amazing voice and presence as well as the driving, soulful music of the band including musicians Ben Polcer, Jason Jurzak and others. With the return to Portland in April 2011 once again Meschiya Lake and the Little Big (Jason Jurzak, Benji Bohannon, Russel Welch, Charlie Halloran) Horns Blew our ear drums and made our bodies move to what I believe to some of the truest and inspiring jazz that is out there today.
